Privacy Policy

This policy explains what SemioSnap collects, why, where it is kept, and your choices. It covers semiosnap.ai (the app) and semiosnap.com (this site).
What we collect
- Account data: your email (or tester name), display name, plan, and sign-in times.
- Queries and documents: the searches you run, the documents they return or that you upload, and the index we build from them.
- Usage data: which features you use, AI usage counts (for plan allowances and billing), and technical logs such as IP address and browser type, kept for security and debugging.
- Payment data: handled by Stripe. We receive a customer id, the plan and its status, never your card number.
- Support messages you send us.
The app stores a random browser id and your sign-in token in your browser's local storage; this site sets one sign-in cookie. We use no advertising cookies and do not sell or rent personal data.
How long we keep it
- On the Free plan: searches and the documents they indexed are removed by a daily purge after about a week.
- Discovery and Research: your session history and uploads are kept while your account is active so you can return to them, and deleted when you ask or when the account is closed.
- Account and billing records: kept as long as the account exists, and billing records as long as the law requires.
Where it is kept
In the United States. The application runs on Modal (US East). The database is MongoDB Atlas (US East), document storage is Cloudflare R2 (Eastern North America), and this site runs on Vercel (US East).
Who processes it for us
- Anthropic (AI features): the text an AI feature needs is sent to Claude. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models.
- Web search providers (Serper, SerpAPI, Brave) receive the words of a web search, not your identity.
- Stripe (payments), Resend (sign-in emails), and the hosting providers named above.
Privacy of your uploads
A document uploaded on a paid plan (Discovery or Research) is tagged with your account and is visible only to requests signed with your account's credentials. Other users, free or paid, cannot retrieve it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account and data, through support. We answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have further rights under local law, and we honour them.
Children
The Service is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to production systems is restricted, and uploads are isolated per account.
Changes
We will post changes to this policy here and, for material changes, notify account holders by email before they take effect.
